STUPID HORNY GIRL

My twenties are over.
These paintings hold the record of a decade
filled with sex, experimentation, fear, and pain.
There is not much to explain about the name STUPID HORNY GIRL. I suppose it’s one of those ironies that popped into my head every time I felt like I was messing up.
Every painting guards a story.
Every painting preserves someone who marked my life.
I no longer want to explain the anime in my work, nor justify why I painted myself so many times. Perhaps my adolescence stretched out longer than it should have. Perhaps I never finished finding myself, and always ended up overflowing from my own emotions.
I only know,
That I was born into a Catholic family.
That my roots spoke to me of Piura, Arequipa, and Iquitos.
That in my grandfather’s house, my uncles watched anime.
That at six, I watched Fruits Basket, and at thirteen, I found Hentai. It felt gentler to me than conventional pornography. The violence with which women’s bodies are so often portrayed terrified me; drawing, on the other hand, left more room for desire and imagination.
I know I prolonged my childhood for as long as I could because I didn’t want any man to hurt me.
And, even so, that I survived sexual harassment at my university and lost the case.
That I discovered sexual desire with women while fearing my family would reject me. In the end, though they never fully understood, they held me close.
That I was terrified of Hell and of God.
And that, in the end, I understood that love is vast, not scarce.
At twenty-five, I discovered the desire and love I could feel for a man.
And in these works remains all that overflow that only happens in your twenties: when you are already adult enough to bear the consequences of your actions, but still young enough for the world to take you for a fool.

This text does not attempt to explain the art.
It is a farewell.
Goodbye, STUPID HORNY GIRL!
Goodbye, you miserable, lovesick bitch!
Thank you for never stopping painting!
