Vanessa Karin (Lima, 1996) is a multidisciplinary Peruvian artist whose practice encompasses oil painting, embroidery, 2D animation, 3D modeling, and digital media. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with a major in Painting from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) and was represented by forefront Ginsberg + Tzu Gallery between 2021 and 2024.
Her accolades include an Honorable Mention at the 2021 ICPNA Contemporary Art Prize

About me
About!!!
For the past five years, Vanessa started researching the dynamics, interstices, and architectures of desire through visual and material analysis of digital popular culture, Catholic cultures, internet subcultures, and the review of anime and manga archives; allowing her to establish—within the mediums of post-digital art and experimental neo-pop—a new language to represent the swarming nodes inside the complex construction of what constitutes desire, to be an object of desire, and the limitations and supposed emancipations that arise from the feat of being a desiring entity.
Vanessa's recent work has taken a particular interest in tackling the aesthetic, visual, symbolic, and discursive categories of being a girl in a post-digital era, and how this affects ideas of what constitutes desirability.
